Speaker: Kjarsten Philipsen, BCD Travel VP of Account Management

Kjarsten Philipsen has nearly two decades of experience in travel and technology having worked for British Airways, LAN Airlines, PMP Digital and Egencia prior to joining BCD Travel in March 2016.  

 Upon returning to the U.S., Kjarsten spent the past decade with an accomplished career at Egencia, an Expedia Inc company.  He served in a variety of roles including District Sales Manager, Director of Account Management and, most recently, as Senior Director of Sales & Account and Management.

Kjarsten has been an active member of the travel industry serving on the Board of the Los Angeles Business Travel Association as Director of CSR, Treasurer, Vice President, President-Elect and President.  He currently is on the Executive Board serving as a Board Advisor.

Please join us this month to participate in an interactive discussion with Krarseten Philipsen regarding the Managed Travel Index and Sustainability Self-Assessment Tool from GBTA, in partnership with BCD Travel. Would you like to identify how to strengthen your travel program and manage progress as your program evolves? If you are a supplier, this discussion will provide you with insight into corporate travel programs and how to better accommodate the needs of your existing and prospective clients.  
If you have already had experience with either of these tools and would like to share your success stories of improved operational effectiveness, please reach out to a member of our Board before the meeting so we can highlight your achievements!

SEPTEMBER MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT-SPECIAL REQUEST

As we all know, it is that time of year again – back to school! Even though the temperatures in our fine city aren’t currently indicating that the first day of Fall is just over 3 weeks away, the sight of yellow school buses, students with backpacks in the crosswalks and pumpkin spice everything means that schools are back in session!

In an effort to assist a very deserving group of students, we would like to ask everyone attending our lunch meeting on September 21 to please consider bringing SCHOOL SUPPLIES for the foster teens attending San Pasqual Academy. Even though they have already started their academic year, they are being treated to a “shopping” day at the end of September. The list of top supplies for high school students includes binders, folders, graphing calculators, personal organizers, backpacks, socks….even pens, pencils, markers and spiral notebooks. If all of us contribute a few items, it will make such a difference for this group of young people!  Any donation will be greatly appreciated!

San Pasqual Academy is the first residential high school in the nation for foster children. As these children get older, their options for adoption continue to drop. San Pasqual offers them a location to live and go to school during their teen years. They are also given assistance after graduation. This is such an important organization - they are making a difference in teens' lives whose futures were otherwise in question.
